history pic.jpgSherman Oaks dates back over 100 years, and was one of the first areas to be developed in the San Fernando Valley. The land for Sherman Oaks was originally purchased and is so named for General Moses Hazeltine Sherman, a land developer who built the Phoenix Street Railway and served on the Los Angeles water board.

Sherman purchased one thousand acres of land in 1911 and built a city at the junction of his street car lines, which later evolved into West Hollywood.

He retained an interest in the neighborhood of Sherman Oaks, and named Hazeltine Street in Van Nuys for his daughter. Sherman Library also supports his legacy in Corona del Mar.
Development continued for the next several decades, and in 1948 Sherman Oaks incorporated.

Currently, this area offers a variety of residential and commercial real estate adamantly sought and in high demand.

Sherman Oaks is a thriving area supporting both skyscraper office buildings and single-unit households. It is also home to many major radio networks, a video game developer, financial institutions, and brokerage houses.
